Another podium at Silverstone!
What a weekend. We had torrential rain, blistering sun - and a whole lot of action out on track. Here’s a recap of everything that happened at Silverstone.
Following an incredible season debut at Oulton Park, our hopes were high for Silverstone. Reza gave it everything and managed to bring home two 3rd place trophies in races 1 and 2, and despite some tough racing, a lose bonnet which significantly obscured his view, and an engine that was down on power, he was able to bring it home in 5th place for race 3. Race 2 also saw Reza take fastest lap and all the important points that come with that.
With everything that was thrown his way throughout the weekend, including torrential rain during Saturday’s race, his racing instinct, and fearlessness really shone through and quickly had the paddock talking.
Following a solid performance across all three races, both Reza and another driver were called to the Clerk of the Course’s office to be confronted by the Chief Clerk of the Course, two Motorsport UK Representatives, and the Head of Ginetta.
Usually, a visit to the Clerks office is for a penalty or investigation. On this occasion however they were greeted by the representatives, and were told how well they had both driven, and how they had provided not only a thrilling race but also a fantastic representation for both Junior Racing and the Ginetta Series too.
This was echoed by the press release “…..one of the most captivating duels in recent Ginetta Junior history took place as Schwarze and Seewooruthun ran side-by-side for multiple laps of the Grand Prix circuit. It was Schwarze who eventually emerged in second place ahead of his adversary.”
Another added bonus was that Reza was chosen to be one of the Camera Cars this weekend, which allowed those watching to see what it’s like to be onboard at the sharp end of the grid.
