A stunning podium finish for Reza in his Ginetta Junior racing debut.

Now that the dust has finally settled, and we’ve had time to reflect on the first race weekend of the year at Oulton Park, here’s a roundup of how the weekend unfolded.

Race One

After a strong start to the weekend, having qualified P6, Reza lined up on the 2nd row of the grid. With a brilliant start, he quickly gained a few positions before the approach into turn one, but ended up being pushed wide onto the grass which meant he dropped back to P9. From there the fight was on to regain position and advance up the field. Despite some tough racing, he managed to make the move up to 4th before the race ended early due to a red flag, cutting short a phenomenal charge to the front of the pack, but still coming away with the fastest lap and an extra point to add to his tally.

Race Two

In the second race of the weekend he lined up on the grid in 4th, but after an unfortunate mistake early on in the race, he dropped back to 10th, but quickly managed to fight his way up to 5th before the chequered flag came out, but following an unfortunate 5 second penalty, he was dropped back to P6.

Race Three

The final 20 minute race on Sunday was action packed. Shortly after racing got underway there was an accident on the opening lap, Reza had to take evasive action which meant he slipped back to 9th place, a safety car was then deployed to allow for the collection and clearance of the damaged cars.

Upon the restart of the race there was only 9 minutes left on the clock, but with true grit and determination, Reza pulled out all the stops to come home in 3rd place and once again post the fastest lap of the race. Another few laps and we may well have seen an even better result!
